As we have noticed, a lot can happen on a five-day trip to Ireland. Here are some of our highlights:
- Monday: The first challenge was to get all students into the country, which can be a lot harder than it may seem at first. One student needed to take a later flight due to problems with their Visa. Nevertheless, we all arrived at our hostel safely in the end. We then enjoyed an explanation of Dublin via a City Ralley organized by our lovely teachers.
- Tuesday: This day was filled with a guided sightseeing tour, a visit to the Irish Emigration Museum and a lot of free time and shopping. We should mention now that our dinners were cooked by ourselves in small groups of eight.
- Wednesday: Hiking along the Irish coast was the next thing on our list, which was a nice activity for all of us. In the evening, our teachers invited us to a (longer) evening “stroll” along the river Liffey… 😉
- Thursday: After getting a glimpse of what Dublin and the Irish coast look like, a bus was supposed to take us to the so-called Wicklow Mountains. However, we learned that a bus can, in fact, have an even longer delay than the Deutsche Bahn. We left Dublin around four hours later than we had planned. When we finally arrived in the Wicklow Mountains, our group went on a hike, which ended with a surprise swim in a mountain lake for some people of our group, making it worth the long wait for the bus.
- Friday: Our last day consisted of a little more free-time and sightseeing, such as visiting the famous Trinity College and buying souvenirs for friends and family, before we then headed home again.
Although some unexpected things happened in Dublin, we all had an amazing time there visiting a lot of different and cool places with our friends! Thank you to our teachers for organizing this trip and to all the people that came along that made it so unforgettable!
