Only 5 days with our American exchange students – so we used that time: while riding rollercoasters in Tripsdrill, eating traditional food and exploring our cities, we deepened friendships and got to know Germany from a new perspective.

My experience
Meeting new people from another country is one of the best ways to learn about their culture, traditions, daily life, and food. I had the opportunity to welcome my host sister, Kylee, to my home in Germany. She arrived on 12 June and stayed until 17 June. We had an amazing time together.
The American students arrived at our school at 2:00 p.m., where we welcomed them with a buffet. Everyone was excited to meet each other, and it was a wonderful start to the exchange.
During Kylee’s stay, we enjoyed many fun activities together. We visited the Stuttgart TV Tower, went shopping in Metzingen, had a karaoke party in Kornwestheim, met up with lots of friends, and spent time with my friend Paulina and her host sister, Brooklyn.
On Monday, Kylee came to school with me. She attended our PE and maths lessons. Although she couldn’t understand much because the lessons were in German, she enjoyed seeing what a typical school day in Germany is like.
One of Kylee’s favourite experiences was going on the bumper cars with my family. She absolutely loved it, and we laughed so much together. She also really enjoyed watching the public screening of the UEFA European Football Championship with everyone.
Overall, the exchange was an unforgettable experience.
I improved my English, learned more about American culture, and made wonderful memories. I would highly recommend taking part in this exchange programme. It is a fantastic opportunity to make new friends, improve your language skills, and experience another culture from a completely different perspective.
